M54 Engine
The BMW M54 is a straight-6 engine, debuting in the year 2000. It is an evolution of the BMW M52. The engine has Double VANOS variable valve timing to adjust timing of both intake and exhaust valves.
M54B22The 2.2 L (2171 cc/132 in³) M54B22 produced 170 hp (127 kW) at 6100 rpm and 155 lb·ft (210 N·m) of torque at 3500 rpm. Applications:
M54B25The M54B25 is a 2.5 L (2494 cc) engine with an 84 mm (3.3 in) bore and 75 mm (3.0 in) stroke. It is all-alloy with Al-Sil block, fracture-split forged steel connecting rods, a one-piece forged crankshaft, and a reinforced plastic intake manifold. Output is 192 hp (143 kW) at 6000 rpm with 181 lb·ft (245 Nm) of torque at 3500 rpm. Applications:
M54B30The M54B30 is a 3.0 L (2979 cc) successor of the 2.8 L BMW M52. Bore remains the same at 84 mm (3.3 in), but stroke is increased 5.6 mm (0.2 in) to 89.6 mm (3.5 in). Power is 231 hp (170 kW) at 5,900 rpm while torque is 221 lb·ft (300 Nm) at 3,500 rpm. It is an all-alloy engine with Al-Sil block. It uses SFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder with Double VANOS (variable valve timing) and features fracture-split forged steel connecting rods, a one-piece forged crankshaft, and reinforced plastic intake manifold. The M54B30 was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list through 2001-2003. Applications:
